What You Need to Go Solar
A southern orientation. You want your collector to be on a south-facing roof free of shade for at least eight hours of full sun during the summer and six hours of full sun during the winter. The roof should face within 50 degrees of true south. If it does not, tilt kits are available. The tilt should be at least 15 degrees up from the horizontal. A typical roof angle on a home is 22 to 32 degrees.
Space for the solar collector(s). Power Partners Solar's collectors may be positioned on the roof, sides of buildings, and on stands in yards, as long as they face the sun. Due to how light our collectors are, they can even be mounted on a gazebo. Power Partners Solar's flat panel collectors measure 20 inches by either 6 feet or 12 feet. If you are sizing up needs for a residence -- including the number of collector panels -- use our Residential Configurator. For a commercial project, complete and submit our questionnaire and you will receive a speedy response.
A sufficient storage tank. You need at least one gallon of storage for each square foot of collector area.
