Building a LEED Platinum Home in Four Days. Power Partners Solar had the privilege of working with ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Deltec Homes to build in just four days a LEED Platinum home for multiple parts of a Louisiana family who had their previous homes battered by Hurricane Katrina and then later destroyed by a tornado. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design; it is a certification procedure developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to promote environmentally responsible and sustainable housing, and Platinum is its highest level of certification. Deltec Homes, which builds unique, energy efficient, circular homes, invited Power Partners Solar to install a solar water heater capable of providing hot water to the five-member family. The structure, which actually includes three homes, enables Brad and Laura Usea, mother Grace Usea, and brothers Chad and Chris to regain their independence.

Hall of Fame Rocker Goes Solar. Ed Roland, who performs lead vocals, keyboard and rhythm guitar for the rock band Collective Soul, recently had a Power Partners Solar water heating system installed in his home. The system was installed by Power Partners Solar dealer Energy Conservation Solutions. The environmentally conscious performer is very pleased with his new solar water heating system. "Doing what's right for the environment is extremely important to my wife and me," Roland said. Collective Soul is a Georgia band that has recorded seven Number One mainstream rock hits and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
